Sonara Health Partners with MedMark Treatment Centers to Expand Take-Home Methadone Access to Pennsylvania
Sonara Health has partnered with MedMark Treatment Centers Washington to make its remote dosing application available to eligible patients in Pennsylvania for the first time.
The implementation of Sonara’s platform will be paid for with funds from a state opioid settlement — a small portion of the more than $50 billion paid by distributors, pharmacies and drug makers to help abate the opioid epidemic they helped to cause.
This collaboration marks the expansion of Sonara’s partnership with BayMark Health Services, North America’s leading provider of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment and recovery services. With Sonara, eligible patients can qualify for take-home methadone doses sooner.
“Improving patient access to quality, medication-assisted treatment is a top priority for our opioid treatment programs,” said Dan Greer, BayMark Health Services Senior Vice President. “We are confident that integrating this platform with our existing medication, counseling, and support services at MedMark Washington will help more patients achieve long-term recovery.”
Sonara has frequently advocated for opioid treatment programs to use settlement dollars to expand access to proven treatment solutions and low barrier care. This partnership is an extension of that work and demonstrates how these funds can directly impact patient outcomes.
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with BayMark Health Services to make take-home methadone safer and more accessible for patients in Pennsylvania,” said Sonara Founder and CEO Michael Giles, MD. “We hope OTPs will continue to leverage opioid settlement funds strategically to support innovative, evidence-based treatments.”
About Sonara Health: Sonara Health’s remote dosing solution makes it easier for people with opioid use disorder to commit to their methadone treatment. The company’s web-based application allows patients to record their take homes by scanning a QR code placed on their methadone bottles, and then recording a video of themselves dosing for their care team to review. Sonara was designed to build trust between OTP patients and their care teams, empowering clinics with insights to make informed treatment decisions, while also improving program retention rates and treatment outcomes.
