Sonara Health Partners with Community Medical Services to Expand OUD Treatment Access
Sonara Health’s remote dosing application for take-home methadone is now available at four Community Medical Services clinics across Ohio, in a partnership funded by the nonprofit health plan CareSource.
CMS is a nationally-recognized opioid treatment program that provides the three FDA approved medications to treat individuals with an opioid use disorder, operating 73 clinics across 11 states and currently treating 24,000 people each day.
With this partnership, CareSource patients at the CMS centers in Cleveland, Lima, Columbus and Kettering will now be able to record their take-home methadone doses for their care teams to review.
“Community Medical Services is excited to partner with Sonara, and we look forward to seeing the positive effect this has on our patients’ daily lives,” said CMS Executive Vice President Jennifer Mason.
As one of the largest opioid treatment programs in the nation, CMS has long been at the forefront of bringing evidence-based innovation to the treatment of opioid use disorder.
They provide outpatient MOUD treatment, counseling and peer support services, and primarily focus on tackling the opioid epidemic in places where treatment resources are otherwise scarce.
CMS and Sonara both share a mission of making the care experience seamless and reducing the stigmas that still exist around OUD, and this partnership will allow both companies to increase their impact.
CMS patients using Sonara can qualify for take-homes sooner and increase their number of take-homes throughout their treatment plan, which promotes recovery and reduces barriers to treatment. To use the product, they’ll simply log in to Sonara’s web-based application, scan a QR code placed on their methadone bottles, and then record a video of themselves dosing.
Sonara was designed to build trust between OTP patients and their care teams, empowering clinics with insights to make informed treatment decisions, while also improving program retention rates and treatment outcomes.
“We’re proud to partner with CMS and look forward to seeing our impact grow as we serve more Ohio patients who can benefit from remote dosing,” said Sonara Founder and CEO Michael Giles, MD.
